# Keyword Research

Finding and evaluating the right keywords to target

- [Keyword Difficulty](https://skribra.com/glossary/keyword-difficulty): A score (typically 0–100) that estimates how hard it would be to rank on the first page of Google for a given keyword, based primarily on the authority of pages currently ranking.
- [Search Volume](https://skribra.com/glossary/search-volume): The average number of times a keyword is searched per month in a given location, used to estimate the traffic potential of ranking for that term.
- [Long-Tail Keywords](https://skribra.com/glossary/long-tail-keywords): Specific, multi-word search phrases with lower individual search volume but higher purchase intent and lower competition than broad 'head' keywords.
- [Keyword Intent](https://skribra.com/glossary/keyword-intent): The underlying goal or purpose a user has when typing a search query — categorized as informational, navigational, commercial, or transactional — used to match content format to what searchers actually want.
- [Keyword Clustering](https://skribra.com/glossary/keyword-clustering): The process of grouping semantically related keywords together so that a single piece of content can rank for multiple related search queries simultaneously.
- [LSI Keywords](https://skribra.com/glossary/lsi-keywords): Latent Semantic Indexing keywords are terms and phrases that are semantically related to your main keyword, helping search engines understand the full context and topical depth of your content.
- [Featured Snippet](https://skribra.com/glossary/featured-snippet): A selected search result displayed in a special box at the top of Google's results page that directly answers the search query, showing content extracted from a web page above the standard organic results — often called 'position zero.'
- [People Also Ask](https://skribra.com/glossary/people-also-ask): A dynamic SERP feature showing expandable question-and-answer boxes related to the original search query, appearing on most Google search results pages and sourcing answers from various web pages.
- [Keyword Gap](https://skribra.com/glossary/keyword-gap): The set of keywords that your competitors rank for in search results but your site does not — representing untapped traffic opportunities that competitors are capturing and you are missing.
- [Negative Keyword](https://skribra.com/glossary/negative-keyword): A keyword that you exclude from a paid search or display campaign so that your ads do not appear when that term is part of a user's search query — preventing irrelevant clicks and wasted ad spend.
- [Seed Keyword](https://skribra.com/glossary/seed-keyword): A broad, short keyword (typically 1–2 words) that serves as the starting point for a keyword research process, from which you expand into a comprehensive list of related keywords and phrases.
